- Airframe, Structures & Propulsion Applications Engineer (AE) will support the aerospace Airframe and Structures segment as well as the Engines and Propulsion segment. The AE support role is necessary to support growth in the airframe and propulsion segments. The job requires design experience in elastomers, familiarity with CAD software packages (CATIA desired but will train), ability to effectively communicate technical concepts, ability to work effectively with other internal groups and external customers, time and project management skills, willingness to travel and self-motivation.
This AE role will support sales, marketing and manufacturing in the areas of material development and specification, product development, application design, application execution, technology transfer and customer service and problem solving.
This role will be responsible for a number of activities. These activities include but are not limited to: Technical design and proposal of customer application requests
- Support customer design issues and questions
- Customer presentations of application design proposals or other technical topics
- Liaison to design and manufacturing centers of excellence for airframe and propulsion products
- Support design centers of excellence in material and product development
- Regular meetings with design centers of excellence and/or manufacturing sites to maintain up-to-date knowledge of product or material developments or issues
- Support manufacturing sites in design aspects
- Maintain airframe and propulsion elastomers material database
Requirements:
- Elastomer application design experience
- CAD software experience. CITRIX and knowledge of CATIA V5, UG/NX and SolidWorks preferred.
- Technical communication skills
- Ability to travel 30% to 40% per year
- Ability to deliver requirements by specified deadlines
- Work with cross functional groups to solve customer problems in relation to material or product
- BS in Engineering with aerospace design background preferable
